Rating Songs

Click any cell in your column to rate a song 0 to 5. Type a number, then use the arrow keys to keep moving down the list, rating as you go. Ratings save instantly and show up for everyone in real time.

Add a note to any cell (right-click it, or press N while it's selected) — cells with notes show a small triangle on hover. You can rename the score labels (e.g. what "3" means to you) under Profile → Rating key.

Made a mistake? Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z undoes; add Shift to redo.

Navigation & Discography

Browsing a discography

• Click album headers to collapse or expand them; use Expand All / Collapse All in the discography header. Your collapse state is remembered as you navigate between artists.
• Songs can carry tags — promoted, cover, remix — and lead singles show a ★ star.
• Collaborations appear as "with Artist" (main) or "feat. Artist" (featured) next to the song.
• Each song shows a Spotify and YouTube icon (YouTube falls back to a search), plus a link icon to copy a direct link to that song.
• A greyed, struck-through Spotify icon means the song isn't on Spotify.

Search

Click the search icon in the top bar and type at least 2 characters. Results are grouped into collapsible sections — Artists, Albums, Songs, Misc Songs. Search also matches alternative names, so romanized, native, or English titles all find the song. Tick Show hidden songs to include remixes, covers, and filtered-out tracks.

Discovery tools

• Subscribe to artists on the Subscriptions page (or the artist page). Subscribed artists build your rating backlog.
• The Home page is your dashboard: the Song of the Day, a Shuffle button that surfaces a random unrated song (toggle between your Subscribed backlog and All songs), your rating backlog, and any artists you own or maintain.
• Song of the Day is a system pick that rotates daily (resets at midnight US Eastern); its own page shows the full history with everyone's ratings.

How Song & Album Names Are Shown

Every song and album has one main name. This should always be the official title as it appears on Spotify, the canonical name everything else is built on. When adding or editing an item, put the official/Spotify name here; everything below only changes how that name is displayed to you, it never changes the official title stored on the item.

Songs and albums can also carry alternative names, extra titles that make them easier to find in search. Each alternative can be tagged as a language: English, Romanized, or a native name (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, or Other). The native tags are mutually exclusive, so an item has at most one native name.

You decide which name you see under Profile → Discography display:

• English or Romanized over the original. These two are mutually exclusive (turning one on turns the other off). They override the original/Spotify name only.
• Native Japanese / Korean / Chinese / Other, each independent; when set, the native name wins over everything else.

Precedence: a native name (if you've enabled its language) beats everything, then English/Romanized overrides the original, otherwise the original name shows. This applies everywhere names appear: discography, search, home, and stats.

Profile & Settings

Everything on your Profile page saves automatically as you change it. (Guest accounts don't have personal settings.)

• Appearance — pick a theme (Classic, Dark, or your own), and set the song button text size. Build or copy a theme on the Themes page.
• Discography display — include/exclude featured tracks, remixes (optionally rated-only), and covers; show track numbers and full album dates; hide OST albums; show hidden songs in search; ignore punctuation when searching; album sort order; and the display-name preferences above.
• Rating key — show the standard key and/or your own, and rename the labels for each score (0–5).
• Link visibility — hide autogenerated YouTube links, all YouTube links, or all Spotify links; open Spotify links in the desktop app.
• Stats page users — show, hide, or reorder which users appear on the stats pages (with a mobile-only option).
• Account — set a profile image, connect or disconnect Spotify, and reset your password.

Grouped by the navigation menus.

• Home — your dashboard: Song of the Day, shuffle, rating backlog, and artists you own/maintain.
• Subscriptions — browse every artist, subscribe/unsubscribe, and see rating completion.
• Song of the Day — the daily pick and its full history.
• Artists — full discographies with everyone's ratings side by side; names are colour-coded by gender.
• Misc — songs not tied to a specific artist, grouped by country.
• Artist Stats — rating completion per person (toggle % complete vs songs remaining).
• Global Stats — average scores per artist, colour-coded.
• Update Stats — visual timeline and heatmap of app updates.

For Editors

If you're an editor or admin, editing is always available — there's no edit mode to switch on. Open an editor by clicking a song name, clicking an album header (its collapse arrow still just collapses it), or the ✎ pencil next to an artist name. Each opens a modal showing the current info; click Edit to reveal the form with fields and action buttons. Most fields save when you press Save; flag toggles (lead, promoted, remix, cover) save instantly.

Rating Mode (navbar) switches between Self and All. In All mode you rate on behalf of another user, which creates a proxy change they must approve on their For Me page (with For Me / By Me / All tabs, approve or reject-with-reason, and bulk actions — the proposer can only withdraw their own).

Song editor

• Fields: name (with a 🔄 button to turn the current title into an alternative name), note, flags (★ lead / promoted / remix / cover), alternative names, and Spotify / YouTube URLs.
• Alternative names: each row has a language dropdown; already-used native languages grey out. The ⬆ button makes an alternative the main song name (demoting the old name to an alternative), and ✕ removes a row.
• Actions: Move to album, Add to album, Edit genres, Manage artists (main/featured), Merge, Remove from album, Split, Delete (password). Misc songs also get "Move to artist".

Album editor

• Fields: name (with the 🔄 make-alias button), release date, alternate names, and Spotify URL, plus an inline song list where you can reorder (⬆⬇) and toggle ★ lead / promoted / remix / cover.
• Actions: Edit genres, Edit type, Add song (search existing), Create new song, Move songs to artist, Delete album (password).

Artist editor

• Fields: name, alternate names, Spotify URL, image URL, Inactive / Complete / Tracked toggles, gender, and country.
• Actions: Add album, Convert to soloist / subunit, Add as soloist of another group, Link related group, Manage genres, Auto-fill Spotify, Unlink, Delete artist (password).

Adding content

• Add Artist — from the navbar; the submit tooltip lists any missing fields.
• Add Album — button at the bottom of an artist page.
• Add / Create a song — from an album's editor (search an existing song, or create a new one with genres and alternative names).
• Spotify import — paste a Spotify URL to auto-fill albums, tracks, and links; Auto-fill Spotify batch-links an artist's songs.
• Manage genres — bulk-assign genres from the artist page.

Owners & maintainers

• Owner — responsible for completing an artist's discography; owned incomplete artists appear on that user's Home.
• Maintainer — keeps an artist's data up to date; maintained artists appear on that user's Home.

Views — data quality

The Views page flags things worth cleaning up and offers one-click fixes (dismiss, merge, or link):

• Orphan and empty songs/albums; empty artists.
• Artists with no owner, maintainer, or creator; potentially disbanded artists; incomplete discography tabs.
• Missing, guessed, or invalid album release dates.
• Potential duplicate songs, variant songs (TV/Live/Instrumental), collab candidates, and duplicate misc artists.
